Scent of Mystery is THE original Smell-O-Vision movie.
A murder mystery set on location in Spain, the film features an all-star cast including Leo McKern, Peter Lorre, Denholm Elliott and Diana Dors. The plot revolves around the pursuit of a ‘Mystery Girl’ present only via her distinctive perfume until the final moments of the film... MAAI is the signature “Scent of Mystery” perfume chosen for Liz Taylor in the new re-mastered version of the movie.
Around sixteen scents have been have been created by The Institute for Art and Olfaction and diffused with sample testers (a different one for each viewer-person sitting in the cinema) and automated fan machines.
Bogue Profumo’s MAAI was the official perfume for Liz Taylor diffused by infused fans (the perfume was suggested by Luca Turin). Each audience member received scented Spanish fan to liberate The Scent of Mystery. A variety of scent dispersion systems have been also used to create an interactive and participated experience.

According to reviewer Luca Turin, MAAI is ‘a big-boned, animalic woody chypre seemingly laden with every magnificent material we knew and loved before the End of History set in: musks, oakmoss, eucalyptus, cedar, bergamot, patchouli, sandalwood, jasmine, ylang, rose.’ Presented in an engraved classic bottle, this customized MAAI has extra tuberose absolute and aldehydes to multiply the animalic/dark side of the perfume and to build an ode to a strong idea of femininity.
